Arkhangelsk, Russia, 24-27. 09. 2001
Published: 18.11.04 Updated: 18.11.2004 16:05:25
Infectious diseases constitute one of the most urgent problems in medicine. The increase in the rate of infectious diseases in Russia is of great concern among the inhabitants, medical professionals and politicians of the Baltic and Barents regions because infections ignore state boundaries.
Two previous conferences held in Tromsø (Norway) in 1998 and in Sigtuna (Sweden) in 2000 emphasized the necessity to unite the efforts of doctors, politicians, public organizations and all interested persons in order to solve problems regarding infectious diseases.
The Regional Administration, the Health Care Department of the Region and the Northern State Medical University in Arkhangelsk have taken the initiative to organize the Third International Conference to be held in Arkhangelsk from 24-27 September 2001.
The main issues to be addressed during the Conference are:
HIV/AIDS and sexually transmitted diseases
Urgent anti-tuberculosis activities
Infectious diseases and vaccination
All interested specialists are invited. More information is available from Andrey Mariandyshev, Northern State Medical University, International Office, Troitsky Ave. 51, Arkhangelsk 163061, Russia. E-mail: firstname.lastname@example.org
